Someone said that routers should not be placed on the metal, but works well for many years, suggestions?

That is the stupidest thing I've ever heard. Racks of servers in data centers filled with 24-port router are all steel ...
Who said it's crazy.
Whatever ... Leave it where it is ... the router box plastic insulated the electronics and radio waves through the air, not the metal table.
If it does not work to repair ......
Just out of there .... If you want to move, and move on.
No matter where you are ...
The metal can block messages from or to the router - but only slightly under the table, no problem like that.
